CEA’s Expert Advisory Committee brings together people with the experience, judgment and conviction needed to guide serious work.

This committee supports CEA’s charitable purpose: justice that heals, systems that serve.

Our work concerns suspected misclassified male suicides in Queensland. These matters carry grief, unanswered questions, public interest, evidence, process, accountability and the need for careful judgment. The people who sit around the committee table help CEA carry that responsibility with discipline and humanity.

We welcome expressions of interest from people who are committed to justice, proper process and meaningful change.

Committee Members

Expert Advisory Committee members contribute their knowledge, expertize and perspective to CEA’s work.

They assist with organisational direction, governance standards, review pathways, operational priorities, professional engagement, risk, compliance, finance, privacy, systems, public education and the continued development of CEA’s services.

Members are not expected to be experts in every area. The strength of the committee comes from different people bringing different expertize to the same purpose.

Committee Work

The committee considers matters that affect the quality, integrity and direction of CEA’s work.

This includes the way CEA manages sensitive information, supports families, engages professionals, develops policies, oversees review pathways, protects confidentiality, manages resources, strengthens systems and responds to issues that arise through the organisation’s work.

Where an accepted matter requires further consideration, the committee assists CEA to identify the appropriate next step. That step may involve further information, specialist review, forensic referral, practitioner involvement, advocacy, research consideration or another action within CEA’s scope.

Monthly Meetings

The Expert Advisory Committee meets monthly.

Meetings provide a regular forum for members to consider organisational priorities, review pathway matters, governance issues, operational needs and committee recommendations.

Meeting papers, records and action items are managed through CEA’s internal systems so committee work remains organised, confidential and properly documented.

Governance and Oversight

CEA is a not-for-profit organisation with serious responsibilities to families, professionals, supporters and the wider community.

The Expert Advisory Committee assists CEA to maintain proper standards across governance, finance, compliance, risk, records, insurance, policies, procedures and organisational accountability.

This oversight helps ensure CEA’s work remains careful, lawful, sustainable and aligned with its charitable purpose.

Security and Confidentiality

CEA handles highly sensitive family and case material.

Committee members may be given access to meeting papers, governance documents, operational information and case-related material relevant to their role.

CEA uses structured systems to support privacy, secure access, document control, case management, committee records and workflow. Confidentiality, conflict disclosure and careful information handling are essential to committee participation.

Public and Professional Engagement

CEA’s work extends beyond individual matters.

The committee supports the organisation’s public and professional direction, including practitioner relationships, forensic expert networks, research collaboration, university engagement, publications, public education, website resources and community pathways such as Speak Up.

Committee members help ensure these areas are developed with credibility, care and purpose.

Relevant experience may come from governance, finance, compliance, operations, forensic practice, investigation, clinical work, privacy, systems, research, public sector processes, community services, advocacy or not-for-profit administration. and lived experience

Above all, CEA seeks committee members who understand that justice is not abstract. It is carried through decisions, systems, standards, courage and the willingness to ask the questions that others have left unanswered.
